This Privacy Policy explains how Citysnap (“we”, “our”, “the app”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the app.
1) Information we collect
Account information
When you sign up or log in, we collect:
- Name and email address (from email sign-up or Google Sign-In)
- Password (handled by Firebase Authentication; we do not store your password ourselves)
Profile information
When you set up your profile, we collect:
- City and locality you choose (we do not collect GPS location)
Content you create
When you use the app, we collect and store:
- Thoughts you post
- Comments you post
- Photos (snaps) you upload
- Your display name on posts and comments
- Reaction counts (“I feel this” count)
Technical information
Firebase may collect certain device and app information for security and functionality
(for example: device identifiers, push notification tokens, and IP address), according to Firebase’s services.
We also use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to improve stability (no advertising ID).
2) How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Show your local city feed and profile
- Display your thoughts and comments in the app
- Send notifications you opt into (feels, comments, prompts)
- Operate moderation (reports, blocks) and prevent abuse
- Sync content across sessions and devices
- Improve app performance and fix crashes
3) Where your data is stored
Citysnap uses Google Firebase and Amazon Web Services:
- Firebase Authentication for login
- Cloud Firestore to store user profiles, thoughts, and comments
- Amazon S3 (via our API) to store photos you upload
Your data is stored on Firebase and AWS servers and processed according to their terms.
4) Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.
We share information only:
- With Firebase/Google and AWS as our infrastructure providers to operate the app
- When required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security
5) Data retention
We keep your account and content for as long as your account remains active or as needed to operate the app.
You can delete your account anytime from Profile — this removes your posts, comments, and profile.
If you delete a single thought from your profile, it is removed from our database.
(Some related data such as comments may remain unless explicitly deleted.)
6) Your choices and controls
You can:
- Browse as a guest without an account; sign in to post and comment
- Log out at any time
- Delete your own thoughts from your profile
- Delete your account from Profile settings
- Control notification types in Settings
- Report or block other users
- Contact us to request deletion of your account data (see Contact section)
7) Security
We use Firebase security features and Firestore security rules to help protect your data.
However, no online system is 100% secure.
8) Children’s privacy
Citysnap is not intended for children under the age of 13
(or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9) Third-party services
Citysnap uses:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging)
- Amazon Web Services (S3 for photo storage)
- Google Sign-In

10) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the “Effective date” when changes are made.
